Compressor Control Unit Fix

Does your A/C compressor work intermittently? Not at all? Got the A/C error light on the switch? Try these fixes. You will need basic tools and a soldering iron.

Remove the glove box under panel and glove box:

Once it is out you will be able to see the control unit mounted on the right side near the blower, it's partially under the headlight control unit. 88-89 are grey casing and 90-91 brown casing:

You will see these plastic tabs around the outside, pry on the casing to separate it:

These are the contacts you need to re-solder:

If you look real close you will probably see some cracking in the solder:

First melt the old solder and let if flow around the contacts. Then add some new solder onto the each contact:

Now for the second part, look at the circuit board to the right of the contacts you just soldered. See if this trace on your board is burnt out, like it is in this picture:

If it is, you need to add a piece of solder or bit of wire bridging two of the connector contacts. Like this:

That should do it, just reassemble.
