After reading a post on the dude at the Honda dealership having all the cars broken into, I thought I would post a cool trick to secure your deck.

If you are like me and have a crazy expensive top-o-the-line deck in your lude, you are not going to be satisfied with just back strapping it to the console mount. Here is a better way to secure that baby:

1) Drill a small hole through the firewall as close to the centre of the car as possible but up high enough so you can easily access it from the engine bay.

2) When installing your deck, still back-strap it to the frame of the upper console as per usual. Attack a heavy duty bicycle steel brake cable to the back of the frame as well using a nut and bolt with a metal bracket (use your imagination but just make sure it is solid.

3) push the other end of the cable through the firewall as you put the deck back into place with the upper console piece.

4) Secure the console as per usual

5) Once everything is back into place, pull the remainder of the cable through the hole in the firewall. Make sure it is pulled tight.

6) Attach this end to somewhere on the firewall using a bracket and a nice sized screw.

7) Roll up the excess cable and make sure it is secure under the hood.

Now you are done. If they ever try and take the deck out, they will run into a big surprise! They will have to open the hood and find the cable first but by that time you will have your foot up their asses.
