A lot of people ask what the differences between Abe's (KO_SI) and Jordan's (Black89Si) shifters are..
Personally, I've been using Abe's for months now and it's been great..
Shifts are ~2 inches between gears (measured 3rd to 4th) and the craftsmanship is solid..
All stainless welds..

I also have Jordan's shifter.. Which will be going into my car later today (so I'll post up impressions on shifting differences, if any)..
craftsmanship is also excellent..
Clean welds (not blotchy)..

Abe sent me his shifter polished and painted red.. I decided not to repaint it, since it looked just fine even when I took it out of the car..
Jordan sent me his shifter painted silver.. and while it looked good.. I had some extra metalcast ground and blue paint and decided to repaint it to my taste
it also looks cool in the pics with the whole red and blue thing.. haha..

Now, the difference doesn't come in function, but technique..
Everyone knows that regardless of the car, a short shifter is made by lengthening the part of the shaft that pivots with the gear selector cable (not the one that moves side to side)..
Abe's method of achieving this was to cut the bottom of the shifter plate and extend the fulcrum through there..

Jordan decided to cut the lever cage out, extend it higher, and then extend the fulcrum..

He also shaved the hole where the shifter is held in place so that it can be positioned higher..

I've so far encountered a problem with Black89's shifter (which I was expecting, but hoped I wouldn't anyway)..
since the cage is raised, there are clearance issues with the center console..
Then again, I have 2 center consoles.. The one in the car now if from my auto..
I have a m/t console ready to try out..
Update in just a few mins..
Patience guys..

I'm not making any recommendations..
b/c I think they're both great..
I'm putting this up so that you guys can make up your own minds on which you'd prefer to buy

Final review:

Abe (KO_SI) :

Pro's :
-stainless steel material and welds used
-easy, drop-in install
-the fact that he took the time to polish it up (even after months of being in the car, the shaft is still mirror-finished)
-no increased force required over stock shifting
-throws dramatically decreased

Con's:
-since the base is cut out to make room for the shaft the left shift cable angles downward
this causes a slightly 'clucky' shift.. Basically, you'll be pushing into gear and then it'll just 'pop' into it..
Nothing major, takes about 5 minutes to get used to
-this never happened to me, but I remember someone said that the shaft would scrape the baseplate under the shifter plate (the thing that covers the hole above the cat)..
I guess this is a con, but like I said.. I never had that problem

Jordan:

Pro's :
-solid construction, thick metal used
-simple installation, minor modification needed
-a slightly smoother shift over Abe's shifter b/c of the raised cage..
The left shift cable sits level
-throws also dramatically decreased

Con's :
-raised cage needs to be shaved, I was impatient and ended up shaving my center console to get it to fit (this is the slight modification)
not too big a deal, I guess.. The shift boot covers it up
-single, weak spot weld on the threads..
They came off in my shift knob.. The threads were threaded into the shaft and then a small weld was put on to hold them in place..
I put the knob on, and then went to take it off and the threads came out of the shaft with it..

Like I've said before.. Both of these are equally good..
I didn't notice any difference in throw distance..
Both shifters have their quirks, but they're easily remedied..
If you have Abe's shifter and you scrape the plate.. Take the plate off and duct tape the hole shut.. I'm sure that'll work..
Or get slightly larger bushings for the bottom of the shifter plate..
If you get Jordan's shifter, ask him to shave the left side of the cage down..
If you request threads, ask for threadlike, or a few spot welds to hold it in place..
