Hi,
Another tutorial 'How to paint Valve Cover'
This is how looked my spare Valve Cover.
First you have to wash your cover. I use some engine cleaner and rinsed it with water.
On the picture you can also see paint remover I have used to strip old paint.
Paint your cover with pain remover and leave for 5 min and then brush old paint away. Remember to wear protective gloves!
Repeat once again to make sure you have removed all old paint
Wash remover away with clean water and dry then clean with some white spirit.
Now you can smooth surface with some sand paper to make it looks nice. I haven't done it so you will see how it looks like after cover is painted.
I picked some heat resistant up to 150C degree red paint.
Before you start painting put some grease on area you don't want to be painted.
Spray first very light coat.
I have sprayed 5 coats and between every coat I put my valve cover for 3-5 min in pre heated up to 150 oven.
This help you spray every other coat immediately after cover is taken from oven.
This should show similar effect to this one.
After I sprayed last 6th coat I left cover to dry itself for 24 hours.
After couple hours you can remove unwanted paint.
How looks my Valve Cover now ???
I will be installing this cover next Saturday or Sunday.
Thanks to my lovely wife for patience and to Danny for a sticker
